Passengers landing at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport may soon come under a revised User Development Fee structure, if the latest tariff proposal submitted by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. receives regulatory approval. The airport operator has proposed splitting the existing UDF between departing and arriving passengers during the next control period, instead of collecting the full amount only from flyers leaving Hyderabad. Aviation reports say the proposal has been submitted to the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India for review before any new charges are implemented.
Under the proposed model, domestic passengers could pay ₹580 while departing and ₹170 while arriving, while international passengers could pay ₹1,150 on departure and ₹350 on arrival. This would keep the overall UDF broadly at ₹750 for domestic passengers and ₹1,500 for international passengers during most of the tariff period, but change how the fee is collected. The proposal is linked to Hyderabad Airport’s major expansion plan, with reports citing nearly ₹14,000 crore in upcoming investment for a new terminal, runway development, and capacity upgrades as passenger traffic continues to rise.
