Bengaluru police are investigating the death of 45-year-old businessman Vaishak Upadhyay, who was found dead at a flat rented by Kannada actor Krishi Thapanda in the Rajarajeshwari Nagar/Hosakerehalli area. Police have registered an unnatural death report and are examining the circumstances around the incident, including messages, witness statements, and the personal issues he was reportedly facing. Reports say Upadhyay had been staying at the apartment for about a week while Thapanda was away, and investigators are looking into claims of marital distress and emotional pressure before the incident.
The case has gained public attention because Upadhyay had earlier been arrested in a high-profile threat-letter and extortion case involving businessman and advocate Aravind Reddy, where anonymous letters allegedly demanded several crores of rupees. He was later released on bail, and police reports suggest his personal disputes intensified after the case. Investigators have not established any role of Krishi Thapanda in the death so far, while Upadhyay’s wife has sought a detailed probe to clarify the exact sequence of events.
