In a positive development for public transport staff, the Telangana government has announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) employees. The DA has been raised by 2.1%, taking the total from 50.7% to 52.8%. The revised allowance will be implemented retrospectively from January 2026, benefiting thousands of employees across the state.
Officials stated that the pending DA dues for the previous three months will be cleared in a phased manner through supplementary payments. While the hike brings relief to employees amid rising living costs, it is also expected to increase the financial burden on the corporation by several crores every month. Despite this, the government reiterated its commitment to employee welfare and strengthening public transport services in Telangana.
