In a major development in the long-running Saradha chit fund case, Sudipta Sen has been granted bail in all pending cases, clearing the final legal hurdles for his release from prison. The decision came from the Calcutta High Court, which approved bail in the last two cases handled by state police, effectively ending his prolonged incarceration. Sen, who has been behind bars for nearly 13 years, is now expected to be released soon, subject to certain court-imposed conditions.
The Saradha scam, which surfaced in 2013, involved a massive financial fraud that impacted lakhs of investors across West Bengal. Over the years, multiple agencies including the CBI had filed dozens of cases, most of which had already resulted in bail for Sen. With the final approvals now in place, legal experts say there is no remaining barrier to his release. The development has reignited public and political discussions, especially given the scale and impact of the scam on small investors.
