Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has inaugurated a new 10.7-km signal-free and toll-free road in Bengaluru, offering a major connectivity upgrade for commuters in the western part of the city. The 10-lane corridor has been named after former Chief Minister S M Krishna and connects Kadabagere Cross with Challaghatta Metro Station. The road is expected to improve access to Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout and nearby areas while giving motorists a smoother alternative on the Magadi Road–Mysuru Road route. Built at an estimated cost of ₹631 crore, the 100-metre-wide road includes service roads, green boulevards, a cycling track, three underpasses, 11 bridges, and a 270-metre tunnel. Officials said the corridor could reduce travel time between Magadi Road and Mysuru Road from nearly 60 minutes to around 20 minutes. Shivakumar also said the government plans to honour landowners who voluntarily gave land for public projects through a “Wall of Gratitude,” while future expansion plans are linked to Bengaluru’s larger business corridor development.
