A Class 6 student died after collapsing during a morning exercise session at a private residential school in Kadayarappanahalli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. According to police-linked reports, the student had gone to the playground around 5:30 a.m. and collapsed after completing two rounds of running. He was rushed to a hospital, but was declared dead before his parents arrived. Following a complaint from the family, police have registered a case against the school’s physical training teacher and taken him into custody for questioning.
The student’s family has alleged that the child was assaulted before he collapsed, while a classmate reportedly claimed that students were often punished harshly at the school. Police have not confirmed these allegations as fact and are waiting for the post-mortem/autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death. The incident has triggered concern among parents over student safety, corporal punishment, hostel supervision, and accountability in residential schools.
