The ongoing debate over the use of Hindi in Karnataka has intensified, with Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) president T. A. Narayana Gowda voicing strong opposition to what he described as the “unnecessary push” for Hindi in the state. Emphasizing Karnataka’s linguistic identity, Gowda stated that Kannada must remain the primary language across administration, education, and public platforms. He reiterated that any attempt to promote Hindi at the cost of regional language pride would be firmly resisted by pro-Kannada groups.
The remarks come amid growing discussions around language policies and cultural representation in Karnataka. Activists associated with Karnataka Rakshana Vedike have consistently argued that imposing Hindi creates barriers for local communities and undermines Kannada’s importance. T. A. Narayana Gowda also urged authorities and institutions to respect linguistic diversity while ensuring that Kannada retains its rightful prominence in the state’s identity and governance.
