A major political development unfolded in Palakkad, Kerala, when senior communist leader P. K. Sasi inaugurated a convention organized by dissatisfied members associated with the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The event brought together party workers and leaders who have expressed dissatisfaction with the current district leadership, highlighting growing internal tensions within the party in the region.
During the gathering, Sasi addressed supporters and described the meeting as a platform for “self-respecting communists” rather than a rebellion. He also raised serious criticisms against the district leadership, alleging mismanagement and corruption within the party structure. The convention is seen as a sign of widening internal divisions in the CPM ahead of future political developments in Kerala.
