Heavy rainfall in Gujarat’s Amreli district has caused major damage to the PGVCL electricity network, affecting power supply in several rural areas. Strong winds and floodwater reportedly damaged nearly 40 to 45 electric poles and three transformers, creating one of the biggest power-related disruptions of the current monsoon season in the district.
Khambha taluka has been among the worst-affected areas, with around 13 interior villages facing electricity outages since the heavy rain. The disruption has also affected water pumps, mobile connectivity and agricultural feeders, causing inconvenience to local residents and farmers. PGVCL teams have started repair work on a war footing, with officials aiming to restore domestic power supply first before taking up repairs on agriculture feeders.
